Sunday 8 March saw the close of the 12th edition of the SEEYOUSOUND International Music Film Festival, a unique presence on the Italian film festival scene: the first – and still the only one – devoted entirely to music-themed cinema. Since 2015 Seeyousound has been bringing to Turin the best Italian and international films in which images and sound meet, converse and stimulate one another. The programme of this edition presented 68 titoli, accompanied by 16 eventi tra live, dj set e performance audiovisive, 2 mostre e 1 residenza artistica.
A hallmark of Seeyousound has always been the presence in the auditorium of registi, autori, attori e musicisti provenienti dall’Italia e dall’estero – quest’anno oltre 50 ospiti – thanks to whom the festival offers the chance to experience the encounter with its favourite artists not only through sound, but also through a visual and narrative dimension.
The event confirms itself as a point of reference for cinefili e appassionati di musica, attracting year after year un pubblico non solo cittadino and of a sempre maggiore numero di addetti ai lavori. 6,000 attendances were recorded in the first 5 days of the festival in all the location coinvolte – of which more than 5,000 tickets were issued for screenings – figures that tell of an ever more loved and well-attended festival: the same total had been reached in 2025, but with more days of programming.
Sold out for the opening with the event Casino Royale SUONO/VISIONE/SUONO, Bowie: The Final Act by Jonathan Stiasny, Falene by Ivan Cazzola, Rave On di Nikias Chryssos, Viktor Jakovleski, Pauline Black: A 2-Tone Story by Jane Mingay, La prima festa by Pietro Fuccio and Move Ya Body: The Birth Of House by Elegance Bratton, and great success for Herbie by Patrick Savey, A Century In Sound di Nick Dwyer e Tu Neill, The Banjo Boys of Johan Nayar, Butthole Surfers: The Hole Truth and Nothing Butt of Tom Stern, We Want The Funk! of Stanley Nelson and of Nicole London e Sun Ra – Do The Impossibile by Christine Turner.
Subtitle of this edition: MAKE SOME NOISE, an invitation taken up by the Seeyousound audience and, in particular, by those who bet on the festival: 80 season passes were purchased before the programme was announced, and there were numerous participants in the Eppela crowdfunding campaign launched in December.
«Abbiamo fatto rumore, come volevamo. – affermano i membri del Direttivo dell’Associazione Seeyousound – This year too we made ourselves noticed, thanks to the queues of people waiting to get into the cinema and to word of mouth that rewards our programme. We can say it: Seeyousound is possible thanks to us who organise it and to our audience, who repay our efforts in every sense, as well as, of course, the support of the sponsors who have been by our side for some years now, while – sorry to have to mention it once again – what has been missing is the support of the city’s institutions. We hope that this success may also be a stimulus for institutions and new partners to place their trust in this project and to contribute concretely to its future growth».
