World War I, Italian front; notes full of hope, brotherhood, and nostalgia resonate through the trenches while the shooting is temporarily suspended. Thanks to a Steinway and to a talented soldier. Massimo Ottoni creates a moving hymn to the “music as a weapon”, bitter and melancholic, but also joyful and peaceful, being capable to manage different styles of animation. Can be considered an animated version of Ermanno Olmi’s “Torneranno i prati”.
